Get to know Ibiza
Beautiful rocky beaches in the south, sandy beaches bordered by pine forests in the north and a beautiful center in Ibiza town is just a little bit of what the island has to offer.
For many travelers, Ibiza is associated with youth and partying. And it is no secret that the island attracts young people from all over Europe who want to experience world-renowned DJs and famous clubs such as Space and Pacha.
However, Ibiza is also a real holiday paradise for people who have finished the most intense partying and for families looking for a destination with famliy-friendly beaches and hotels.
Ibiza has beautiful beaches for everyone
South of Ibiza town, the beautiful Platja d'en Bossa stretches towards the salt lakes in the far south. Platja d'en Bossa has fine-grained sand and along the beach there is a beautiful beach promenade without car traffic. This is where the best hotels are located, but you will also find some beachfront accommodation that is less expensive.
North of Ibiza town you can stay in or around pleasant Santa Eularia or Es Canar. When the hippies started traveling to Ibiza in the sixties and seventies, they established two street markets in Santa Eularia. The street markets, Las Dalias and Punta Arabí are still there and well worth a visit. You can buy handmade crafts and clothing, and simply exploring these markets is an adventure by itself.
Many places on this side of the island has small bathing bays with wonderful sand below low cliffs.
On the west side of the island, San Antonio is the major destination. This has traditionally been Ibiza's major youth destination and is probably best suited for you who are in your 20s.
If you want to see as much of Ibiza as possible, we can recommend renting a car or moped. Inland, you quickly leave the tourist areas and enter small, winding roads in very beautiful surroundings. There are plenty of bars and places to eat, and if you want a day of yoga, for example, there are many places on the island that offer yoga classes.
Ibiza is the perfect spot for hiking or biking. There is a wide range of routes throughout the island, so pack your best hiking shoes and sunblock, and get out there!
Formentera is the southernmost of the Balearic Islands. You can take the ferry from Ibiza town to Formentera.
There are several ferry companies that operate the route and it takes about 45 minutes to get here.
Once out on Formentera, you quickly discover that you are in quite a different world than on Ibiza. Here the pace is calm, and if you think Ibiza is a bit bohemian you can multiply that impression by two here. Life goes very smoothly on Formentera and if you have ever been to the Caribbean you may get much of the same feeling.
Formentera does not have many hotels, so if you want to stay here you should book well in advance. Most people travel on a day trip and only discover when they come out to the island that they would like to have a toothbrush and change for one night.
