    Brussels - Europe's beating heart

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "Brussels"? Is it EU, right? And certainly, EU plays an important role in Brussels' day-to-day life. But the city has a lot more to offer than a guided tour through the corridors of power in the EU headquarters.

Did you know that Brussels ranks #4 in number of Michelin star restaurants relative to the population?

    The Grand Place

The Grand Place is Brussels' pride and an absolute must-see on your visit to the city. The square is considered to have one of Europe's finest collections of classical buildings and was included on the UNESCO world heritage list in 1998. The city hall is the most beautiful of them all. It was constructed between 1401 and 1455. The tower is 96 meters tall and is visible from large parts of the city.

There are a number of restaurants at The Grand Place, however, this is not where you find the best food.

In November and December, The Grand Place hosts the annual Christmas market. The evening light show gives you goose bumps! After the show has finished, you may enjoy a locally produced beverage in one of the many bars at The Grand Place. Many of the bars have a typical Belgian interior with an open fireplace.

    What to eat

Brussels might be the capital of fine chocolate, beer and, of course, Belgian waffles. When you've tempted your taste buds with this, you might be up for some other Belgian food? Cosy corner pubs and top star Michelin restaurants are at your disposal, often at a price level a bit lower than in the rest of Western Europe.

    Out of Brussels

Brussels is an ideal hub for a journey in Europe. All of Benelux is just a short journey away.
