A great starting point for the perfect family holiday
Legoland, Wow-Park and several other theme parks makes Billund a paradise for your family holiday in Denmark.
Let's be frank, the majority of people flying to Billund who are not there on business, are on their way to Legoland. This world famous park opened in 1968 and has since grown steadily in both size and number of visitors. See famous landmarks from all across the globe built in Lego from the Ninjago simulator, to African-like safaris and a haunted house. Of course there is also an exciting rollercoaster.
Did you know that Flyr has children's discounts (https://flyr.com/en/travel-with-children) for all children aged 2 - 15?
Allow yourself at least one full day in the park. It is almost impossible to see all of what the park has to offer, not matter how good your are at planning.
Legoland offers a large variety of accomodations. Hotel Legoland is located just by the park. They have themed rooms with interiors from Friends, Ninjago and the Lego Movie. If you have a pirate in your family, there are rooms fit for you as well :)
Legoland Castle Hotel is another popular place to stay during a visit. This is an enchanting castle with 142 rooms hosted by the king and queen of Legoland.
A 10 minutes walk from Legoland, Legoland Holiday Village is a good option. This is a nice holiday resort with activities for children of all ages. Choose from an exciting assortment of themed rooms with Wild West, Pirate, Indian, or camping.
The pier in Bergen, Norway, in the Legoland version.
With a rental car on your holiday in Billund you can explore lots of nice places. We recommend a drive across the Lillebæltsbroen (Lillebaelt's Bridge) to the city of Odense at the island Fyn. This is where world famous author Hans Christian Andersen was born.
Visit the museum of H.C. Andersen and learn about his life. Stroll the streets and see his home as a child and his school.
Odense is a cosy town with many cafés, alleys, and restaurants. The small town also boasts Odense Zoo, a zoologial garden with more than 2000 animals.
Considered by many to be Copenhagens little brother. Chic cafés along the channels and named the "Capital of Europe", Aarhus is a place few dislike!
Once in Aarhus, make sure you get to visit "Den gamle by" (The old town) which is a spectacular outdoor museum that takes you back in time to the days before cars ruled the streets. See horses with carts and maybe some craftsmen traditions you learned about in school.
Half an hours drive from Aarhus you can visit Djurs Sommerland. This is the largest amusement park in the Nordic. The park has gained recognition with four consecutive awards as the best Nordic park. Among its attractions are Dinosaurland, The safari bus, Jungle Rally, Grisebasserne, and The Tiger. The latter won Thrill Ride of the Year award in 2019.
Add 15 minutes to your drive and you can visit Ree Park Ebeltoft Safari. Join a real Land Rover safari tour among African wildlife or jump on the American Express Train and see animals on the North American prairie. If you want the real thing, book the Night Explorer and spend a night in a cabin in the African savanna, in the midst of hippos and giraffes.
