The proudest, most beautiful, and most popular
The city of Bergen is full of charming wooden houses, narrow alleys, exciting shops, and good restaurants. Bergen has a lot to offer if you love the nightlife, from small, intimate coffee shops to a vibrant club scene.
Bergen, Fløibanen funicular and Ulriken
Bergen as a city has a lot on offer. A relaxing city break with some of Norway's best seafoood, or aiming at climbing all of Bergen's seven mountains? You can have both!
The Fløibanen funicular brings you high above the city with excellent hiking opportunities. The view is amazing. If you do it the Norwegian way, you go for a hike in the woods at the top and use your feet to get back to the city. When you are nearing the city center, you will pass by some of the oldest parts of Bergen, with white, wooden houses, some of them over 200 years old.
Ulriken is another famous mountain that attract many visitors. The cable car was recently rebuilt, with a capacity of 50 per car.
The Fløibane in Bergen is highly recommended
The Bergen International Festival
The Bergen International Festival is Norway's largest music festival. It is hosted yearly by Bergen city, at the end of May/early June. The festival attracts world famous artist and conductors from all over the world, mainly within classical music. In recent years the musical scene has broadened, with contemporary music and arts.
Many of the events take place in Grieghallen - Bergen's concert hall named after Norway's most famous composer Edvard Grieg. There are also concerts arranged at Grieg's residence, now a museum, called "Troldhaugen".
If you are looking for something truly Norwegian, a boat trip in the nearby Hardangerfjord accompanied by music of Grieg is all you need.

The fjords
The fjords - a truly unique experience
